Robert Spencer and Jeffrey Schecter's "Farm Girl in New York" to Receive Feb. 1 DVD Release By Matthew Blank 19 Jan 2011 "Farm Girl in New York," a new film by and starring Tony Award nominee J. Robert Spencer (Next to Normal) and Broadway regular Jeffrey Schecter (A Chorus Line, Wonderful Town), will be released on DVD Feb. 1. The cast also features Allison Munn ("One Tree Hill"), Chryssie Whitehead (A Chorus Line), J. Elaine Marcos (Priscilla Queen of the Desert) and Joshua Wade. "Sam and Matt flee their small mid-western town of 'Shickville,' for New York City, where hot girls roam the streets!," reads a show synopsis. "After months of failure they come up with the idea to hold a fake audition to meet women. Hilarity ensues when dozens of hot, talentless, babes show up competing for a job that doesn't exist." The comedy puts the unlikely heroes in the midst of writing and rehearsing a show — simply to win the heart of one of the actresses. Set in and around the Broadway community, the film was shot in New York City. Advertisement The film premiered at the 2008 Big Apple Film Festival. Maverick Entertainment will release the DVD, which is currently available for pre-order on Amazon.
