The documentary Such is Life: The Troubled Times of Ben Cousins could be eligible for an AFI award and travel the world film festival circuit, according to its production company.

The two-part documentary airs on Channel 7 tomorrow night and Thursday night.

Mushroom Group director Vincent Donato, who is overseeing the production, said they were partnering with Village Roadshow for the pay-TV and DVD release of the documentary, which may also be entered in film festivals and competitions.

Cousins and music entrepreneur Michael Gudinski are executive producers on the film and will benefit financially from future DVD and pay-TV sales and potential film awards.

Such is Life could be entered in next year's AFI awards in the category of documentary series. It is directed by Paul Goldman, who won acclaim for his debut film Australian Rules. Mushroom expect up to two million viewers to tune in this week.
