Brooke specializes in: Balmain extensions, partial and full highlights, formal updos, wedding party hair and make-up and Brazilian blowouts, priced at $275 for a limited time. Join this six-week beginner exercise program and exercise in a small, safe group setting and get in shape. New participants will receive an individual, 30 minute wellness coaching consultation and six weeks of guided, progressive exercise including cardiovascular, strength, core and flexibility training. Classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays. 2010 Aflac Iron Girl Lake Tahoe Triathlon Lake Tahoe South Shore, Sept. 19. The 2010 Aflac Iron Girl Lake Tahoe Triathlon is a women-only triathlon consisting of a 400 meter swim, 24K bike and 5K run. This is the third year of Aflac's collaboration with Iron Girl, the nation's premier all-women's event series. With 12 events nationwide, ranging from 5K and 10K run/walks to duathlons and triathlons, Aflac Iron Girl events empower women of all ages to lead a healthy, active lifestyle while raising money and awareness for childhood cancer research and treatment. Low cost health screenings Sensing a need for community members to take proactive steps toward improved health, Tahoe Forest Health System is now offering monthly low-cost health screenings second Tuesdays, 7 - 9 a.m. at the Tahoe Center for Health and Sports Performance, 10710 Donner Pass Road in Truckee. Second Thursdays at the Incline Village Community Hospital, 880 Alder Ave., Incline village. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted (VISA, MC, and American Express) for screenings. Low-cost lab screenings are not necessarily reimbursable by your insurance company. The following tests will be available: Complete blood count, $11; comprehensive metabolic panel, $26; comprehensive metab panel with lipid, $57; lipid panel, $31; Vitamin D, 25 hydroxy; $40; hemoglobin A1C, $25. Patients should fast for 10-12 hours prior to testing. Call 587-3769 for schedule. Summer full moon TRT hikes Experience the Tahoe Rim Trail at dusk. Expect casually paced hikes for all ages, while enjoying the natural world and nighttime senses. Bring a flashlight, a wind-proof layer, and water. Not the best hike for children under 10 years old. Please, to respect the night sounds, no dogs allowed on this hike. Hike dates are Thursday, Sept. 23, and Saturday, Oct. 23. TRTA Membership is required to attend and space is limited so advance sign up required. All full moon hikes start at the Tahoe Meadows Trailhead. This fully supported scenic bike tour of the Tahoe, Truckee and Donner areas will benefit the North Tahoe Middle and High school music programs. Cyclists may choose from 30, 60 and 100 mile routes with rest stops and van support. The ride begins and ends at the Village at Squaw Valley with pizza, pasta and live music provided by the North Tahoe school bands. Come out and enjoy a beautiful day! Fall Paddle Day Join the Lake Tahoe Water Trail for their Fall Paddle Day at Zephyr Cove Lodge, Oct. 9, 8:30 a.m. (registration) - 1 p.m. Experience the beauty of a Fall paddle on Lake Tahoe! Paddle from the Historic Zephyr Cove Lodge with researchers at the forefront of protecting Lake Tahoe from aquatic invasive species. And then enjoy lunch at a beach barbecue! The event was snowed out in May, but plans are for a great day full of fall color and fun. This is an annual event and hope everyone can join us! LUNAFEST returns to Squaw The Village at Squaw Valley hosts the second annual LUNAFEST, Saturday, Oct. 23, 5:30 - 10 p.m. LUNAFEST is a national film festival that features short films by, for and about women. Hosted by Girls on the Run. The evening begins with wine by Uncorked and food from the Village at Squaw Valley at 6 p.m. in the Mountain Stream Room (next to Uncorked Wine Shop). Food, wine and holiday shopping at 7:30 p.m. film viewing in the Palisades Room; 8 p.m. intermission, dessert and live auction and at 8:30 p.m. more film viewing in the Palisades Room. Held in conjunction with the annual Women's Wellness Weekend Oct. 23-24. Tickets are $49 each and includes appetizers, wine, live auction and film viewings.
