“El-Amin releases play on DVD” |
Posted: 20 Oct 2010 09:58 AM PDT BENTON HARBOR — Filmmaker, poet and playwright Kareemah El-Amin will host a DVD release party for her play "Lockdown Legacy" at 5 p.m. Friday at the Transformation Center, 88 W. Main St. "Lockdown Legacy" tells the story of how the incarceration of one man impacts his entire family. El-Amin, an Adams High School graduate, wrote the play in 2004, and "Lockdown Legacy" had its debut in January 2005. The footage used in the DVD was filmed during a 2008 performance at Lake Michigan College. El-Amin used four cameras, which allowed her to film the play from multiple angles. There is no charge to attend the release party. Copies of the DVD are $20, and can be purchased by visiting lockdown legacy.miiduu.com.
